Listening, talking, writing, watching, Speaking, reading, clicking, scrolling, Trolling, posting, hosting, boasting, making, taking, playing, straying It’s all a mess They say it makes a success But I regret Having too much in my head I want to work in a mill Make something with my hands Don’t force feed me another pill From Silicon Land Elect a demogogue Go ahead and play god sell all my information can’t make me pledge allegiance take all my brainwaves turn em into slave states amplify your hate right through our country drive a stake

S@#! 02:16
What do ya do What do ya say When everything falls to shit All the walls fall down and you can’t trust anyone with All your secrets man No one seems the same As when we were young How can we stay sane? I’m just a man Without a plan I’m just a man I ain’t got no plan What do ya do What do ya say ya go to the bar And have a drink Sit down on the stool And have yourself a think Of all the places man n your life went wrong all the paths you took To get to this song I’m just a man Without a plan I’m just a man I ain’t got no plan

West 02:25
We’re tryin our best to make our way out west We bought a piece of land Somewhere north of the rio grande We want some piece of mind from the trials east of the rhine We want some resolve to lay down roots and build guilded halls and Oh my god Oh my god We’re makin out plans to put up fences and turn dirt with hands We’re makin good time running our legacy through our minds We’re putting up walls laying down floorboards praying to the gods We’re trying our best to be a good family of christians and Oh my god Oh my god Nothing turned out the soils sour the wood is rot We’re straight out of luck this ain’t our land and we sure don’t belong and Oh my god Oh my god

Louisa 03:29
Louisa, I want to take all your dark visions and turn them into sweet dreams with a set of nice clouds on top of the mountains a river and a dell running between Louisa, as paranoia sets into your being turning all of your habits into a nightmare I’ll hold you dear mother and make damn sure you fall swiftly and gently to sleep Louisa, how many times have you called the police our sisters and brothers can’t connect with what you see How I wish I could watch through your eyes and make you whole and pristine Louisa, the indigo from the sky reflects your anxiety The sun sets over your shoulders The waves crash and tear your body asunder But our love will hold you together What holds us forever What binds our minds together When strings detach And neurons fall into the ether

4th and Wall 03:57
Looks like we’re moving down 4th and wall after all the bars close down I see young kids shootin up in belltown and lower queen anne celia I want to start over again I just want to move away from all these cookie cutter highrises and mansions by the sea we ain’t a made for this life in the sky i can see the branches disappear shake some cash loose and make our way outta here Sometimes when I’m walking around South Lake Union I kinda wonder what it used to look like was it a bunch of brick buildings and old craftsmans turned to sterile boxes in the sky Celia I want to start over again I’m just scared to move away this path wasn’t part of the bargain but sometimes it’s ok to give up a friend we ain’t a made for this life in the sky i can see the branches disappear shake some cash loose and make our way outta here Celia I want this to be the one place where I can hold you in my arms but we just ain’t got the money to live life where we want

about

This album is dedicated to my mom.

Manifest Neurotomy was recorded in bits and pieces between the Spring of 2016 and Spring of 2020. A lot of songs came and went during that time. Some I don't even play anymore. Well, this batch of songs always managed to stick around. It felt right to memorialize them. These five songs certainly represent little windows into what's been on my mind over the last four years. They've changed a lot and will probably continue to take new shapes as I grow older.

Some people have heard these songs here and there over the years in their different iterations. They helped shape this album.

Thanks to Alison for being an honest judge, my dad for buying me instruments at a really young and totally irresponsible age, to Nick for always listening to my jams, Hannah for giving me notes, Devin for challenging me to be better at the guitar, and Rob for talking shop. And thanks also to everyone who helped me along the way.
